One of the things that truly sucks about getting older is feeling you don’t have that connection with your daughter anymore. Whether you are a mother who spends time with your daughter regularly, or you think you don’t have the time. Finding ways to cement that bond can seem so difficult. But when you feel that you are losing your daughter, it’s time to put the bonding sessions into overdrive. What are the best ways to spend time with your daughter?

What Do They Like

As much as it is a little bit like bribery to get them the things that they want. It’s not just about giving them the Disney DVDs that they have wanted for so long. But it’s about engaging with them on their level. Think about the things that they have. For example, if they love Disney cartoons, why don’t you go one step further and buy them costumes, Disney makeup, and let them be the character. It’s not just about engaging them on the things that they like, but it’s about going that bit further into letting them live out what they love. Naturally, this can go one step further; you can take them to Disney World! But in the meantime, you have to interact with them.

Common Activities

Is there anything you both have in common? Sometimes it’s not possible for whatever reason, and this is why you have to bond with them on their level when you give them household duties like cooking. But this is a perfect opportunity for you both to get together in the kitchen, and just have fun! There are so many children’s cookery sets they can use, and when they are old enough, they can start cooking big meals. Bonding time in the kitchen is a great way to get them involved with food, and gives them that sense of accomplishment, as they’ve contributed something for the entire household.

Going For A Long Adventure

If you don’t have much money, and you don’t like the idea of taking them out for long, expensive days at a theme park, having that opportunity to dress them in wellies and a raincoat, and going for a long walk somewhere isn’t just a perfect way for them to mess around in the mud. The fact of the matter is it gives you both the opportunity to talk and cement a bond. Long walks are great exercise, and they can also open your eyes to new and exciting things. Sometimes we like the comfort of our couch, but is this really good quality time? Sometimes there’s nothing better than sitting down with our children and watching one of their favorite films, but children need to get up and go out, and explore! So why should we stop them doing that?

Whether you feel you’ve not given them enough time in recent years, or you feel they are slipping away, getting some bonding time with your daughter is a simple way to provide them with that foundation of a solid parent-child relationship. This is something that we shouldn’t take for granted.

I believe the best thing to do as the bond grows and changes is to always find something in common or meet your daughter where she is. This will ensure she trusts your always interested in her interests and that you are there as she is growing to know herself more ?
