November 27, 2018

Traveling is something that can be a passion for many people. The idea of experience amazing things and doing it often can be described as more of a dream than a reality. However, you can be in a position to make this real for you. Whether you want to be able to enjoy a few different vacations per year. Maybe explore on the weekends doing different things or even start planning those once in a lifetime trips. They all have one thing in common. Money!! You need to be able to pay for these things. So how can you do that without breaking the bank? Here are some of the options that you can consider.

Good old fashioned savings

Let’s start with one of the obvious ways that you can pay for trips. This is something that will be used by many people all over the world. That is saving. Not all of us are born savers, and some people are better with money than others. However, committing to save some of your disposable income means that you can start building it up to reach your financial goal. You could start by having a small amount of income saved into account each month. Start small and where you are comfortable with. Maybe at the end of the month, you could transfer what is left, for example. This is a great way to build up savings slowly, but depending on how much you can afford, you may need to ensure that you take into account the timescales.

Being savvy with credit cards

Some people have no choice but to use credit in some way, and again, it can be a popular method for paying for things such as traveling as you get some added protection from your credit card providers. It helps to pay for things in full and then using your monthly figures and budgets, pay off the credit cards either when you have the total amount available or by monthly installments. There are many different types of cards available so websites like Bonsai Finance could be worth looking at to make you more aware of what is out there to choose from. You will also need to take into account your credit rating, so it may be worth looking into that as well. People who use credit cards should always know that they can afford it and pay it back.

Renting certain aspects of your home

If you are looking to try and make extra money as a way of affording you the vacations and traveling that you want to experience then perhaps your home holds the answer. Maybe you have spare bedrooms that don’t get used. A driveway that you have space for more than your car. Maybe even a piece of land or a field that you are just not utilizing. Then renting these out to people could be the answer. A lodger can massively increase your income, and even renting your driveway or land can massively give your income the boost it needed. It may not be an ideal situation and not something you plan on doing long-term, but it could certainly help boost your money levels when needed.

Sell unwanted things online

We all have things in our home we no longer need. Perhaps these things are old mobile phones you don’t use, technology that you have upgraded. Clothes that no longer fit or you no longer love. Furniture that you have replaced. Accessories in your home that don’t suit the current decor. These things are likely to be stored in your home and could be making you fortunes by selling them online. Websites like eBay have a full customer base waiting to find your items, and while it takes a little time and effort to list items and then send them out, it could be a great way to give your income a quick boost just in time for a vacation or weekend away. It is worth it for that.

Use your spare time wisely

Maybe you have spare time during the evenings or weekends. Perhaps you could utilize that spare time a little more wisely. An iPad, smartphone or laptop could be the key to increasing your profits. Filling out online surveys, performing mystery shops and website testing could be things that you do in your spare time, that could boost your income and help pay towards your vacations and traveling expenses. There are many online side hustles that you could consider trying, all of which can offer varying amounts for completion. It is worth looking into.

Start a travel blog

Maybe you like the idea of trying to combine money making opportunities with your love of travel, and there is no better way than to start a travel blog. It could be that you begin to review or share tips of the places you have already been, and the travels you are about to embark on. This could then progress on to companies and travel brands wanting to be featured on your blog in the future. Many people have a blog as a hobby and have successfully turned it into a business or a means of making some extra income. So you could be no different.

Start thinking about your career prospects

Finally, you may want to look at your current job and career and see if there is any way of boosting your income that way. Maybe you are due a pay rise, or there is a job promotion that you have been considering. Perhaps even doing the same job for someone else could increase your income levels. There are things that you could consider doing within your career that could help boost your income.

Let’s hope this has inspired you to consider a few different options to fund your traveling.

I have a credit card with rewards that we use as credit to book rentals, airfare, and more. It is through our bank and they also allow you to open a vacation account.

Yes, I use eBay and Amazon. It does help a lot, especially for souvenirs.
