New Orleans, City Park:

One of the best parks in the city, which stretches an amazing 1,300 square feet. Created in 1854. City park is the nation’s oldest urban park. A great place to take your family for a picnic. Enriched with oak trees. City park gives plenty of shade from the sun. With a golf course, and plenty of tennis courts. This place is a athletes dream. From jogging, biking, or taking a stroll.

Children can enjoy the Carousel Gardens, Amusement Park. From here you can catch the train that travels through the park. There are rides for all ages at Carousel Gardens. Amusement parks not for you? Jump over to the botanical gardens. Where you can enjoy local artist showcase their talent.

City Park New Orleans

French Quarter:

The heart of New Orleans, which is full of art galleries, shops, bars, and restaurants. The French Quarter is the one stop shop. Take the short trip to Bourbon Street during the day where you can enjoy shopping and street entertainers.  At night Bourbon street turns into a party. From the streets to the clubs. People are dancing and having fun. Find a Topical Isle and ask for a hand grenade. This sweet adult beverage is served in a souvenir cup.

Canal Street: 

The center of the French Quarter. Hop on a streetcar and tour all that is New Orleans. Don’t want to pay overpriced parking? Park your car across the Mississippi River in Algeries and take the ferry straight to Canal Street. Canal street is full of shops, restaurants, and hotels.

Frenchmen Street:

Like Bourbon, Frenchmen Street is a go-to for clubs, bars, shops, and restaurants. A more relaxed environment than Bourbon Street, however. This is where the locals go to get away from the tourist that flock to Bourbon street. With live music day and night.

WWII Museum:

Step back into time with amazing exhibits that expand along the war that changed not only the United States but changed the world. There are three main buildings that house exhibits that share the history of men and women who served in WWII.  Interactive and personal stories add to a great experience when visiting. Enjoy a movie in the theater or a live show on the BB’s Stage Door Canteen.

Mardi Gras World: 

Everything Mardi Gras. Showcasing parade floats and props. Here you can learn the rich history of Mardi Gras. Watch how floats are made with your own eyes. A great family activity. With a tour guide, you will learn the history of Mardi Gras and how the floats are built each year. A fun family activity.

Whitney Plantation:

There are plenty of plantations to visit in New Orleans and the surrounding area. However, Whitney Plantation is different from all the rest. Sure you will learn the great history of the plantation and the owners. The architect of the homes themselves is grand. But, Whitney Plantation gives you the backbone. The plantation tour guides teach you what life was like for those who worked the fields and keep the plantation running. Yes, this plantation honors the thousands of slaves that came to Louisiana. Swamp Tours:

Head out to the bayou and enjoy watching Louisiana’s wildlife. The scenery is like no other. Airboats are available for tours daily That take you deep into the nearby swamps. Audubon Nature Institute:

A great family hot spot is the Audubon Nature institute. There are three buildings the family can enjoy. The first one is the massive zoo and park located across the street in Uptown. Want to cool off while at the zoo? Check out the inside water park. The insectarium on Canal Street is full of beautiful butterflies and other fascinating insects. The Aquarium located at the end of Canal Street and on the river walk. Don’t forget to check out the IMAX theater while visiting.

Lakefront:

Surrounded by Lake Ponchartrain. This is a great place for family picnics, barbeques, and family reunions. Take a walk or jog along the cement stairs that hold as a levee for the lake. A great spot for anglers as well. Enjoy many restaurants and shops located in the Lakefront area. There are parks and plenty of shade for your family.

Magazine Street:

Enjoy blocks of local shops that are unique to New Orleans. Here you will find local artist and stores that you can not find anywhere else. There are also local restaurants and bars that line magazine Street.
